§ 2105-55

(was 20 ILCS 2105/61c) Sec. 2105-55. Interlineation of checks. The Department may reduce by interlineation the amount of any personal check, corporate check, or company check drawn on the account of and delivered by any person applying for any license, certificate, registration, title, or permit that requires payment of a fee. The amount of reduction shall be limited to $50, and the drawer of the check shall be notified in writing of the reduction. Any check for an amount more than $50 in excess of the correct amount shall be returned to the drawer-applicant. Any check altered under this Section shall be endorsed by the Director as follows: "This check is warranted to subsequent holders and to the drawee to be in the amount of $(insert amount)."
