Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (e) of Code Section 31-10-8 and subsection (c) of Code Section 31-10-27 , unless local law or an agreement between a judge of the probate court and the county governing authority provides for the retention of a greater amount, a county governing authority may, by ordinance or resolution, limit the total amount of fees authorized to be retained as personal compensation by a probate judge who serves as local custodian, local registrar, or special abstracting agent pursuant to Code Section 31-10-8 or 31-10-27 to an aggregate amount not less than an amount equal to the fees collected or $7,500.00, whichever is less, in any calendar year beginning on or after January 1, 1997.
