Text
(1)An employee of a local government that
has declined participation in the program pursuant to section 8-13.3-522 or a self-employed person, including an independent contractor, sole proprietor, partner or
joint venturer, may elect coverage under this part 5 for an initial period of not less
than three years. The self-employed person or employee of a local government
must file a notice of election in writing with the director, as required by the division.
The election becomes effective on the date of filing the notice. As a condition of
election, the self-employed person or employee of a local government must agree
to supply any information concerning income that the division deems necessary.
