(1)Public records of the registration of trade names with the department of revenue
pursuant to section 24-35-301, C.R.S., prior to its repeal, as to which the
registration is in effect on May 29, 2006, shall be transferred to the secretary of
state. On and after May 30, 2006, each such trade name shall be deemed a trade
name for which a statement of trade name is on file in the records of the secretary
of state. The statement of trade name deemed filed for each such trade name shall
be effective until the date determined by the secretary of state, which date shall
not be earlier than December 31, 2007. Applications to register, modify, delete, or
renew trade names that are filed with the department of revenue on or before May
