(a)The Department of General Services, with the consent of the Department of the California Highway Patrol, may enter into a lease-purchase agreement, or lease with an option to purchase agreement, for a build-to-suit office facility to replace the Department of the California Highway Patrol area office in the City of Santa Ana in the County of Orange. The new facility shall be located in the Department of the California Highway Patrol’s City of Santa Ana service area on approximately five acres and shall be designed and built to standards prescribed in the Essential Services Buildings Seismic Safety Act of 1986 (Chapter 2 (commencing with Section 16000) of Division 12.5 of the Health and Safety Code).
