Text
Every sheriff or keeper of a jail to which any prisoner is
committed by any marshal or other officer of the United States
shall be responsible for the safekeeping of the prisoner
according to the terms of the commitment. The money paid by the
United States for the use of jails shall be credited to the
general fund of the county wherein the jail is situated.
