Text

At the expense of the State, the Governor may employ sheriffs, deputy sheriffs, and constables for the preservation of the public peace when in his or her judgment the public good requires it. The Commissioner of Finance and Management shall issue his or her warrant in payment of such expense upon the approval of the Governor. (Added 1959, No. 328 (Adj. Sess.), § 8(b); 1983, No. 195 (Adj. Sess.), § 5(b).)
