Utah Code Ann. § 41-1a-416 (2026).

Text

(1)The owner of a motor vehicle that is a model year 1973 or older may apply to the division for permission to display an original issue license plate.
(2)An owner described in Subsection (1) shall:
(2)(a) complete an application on a form provided by the division;
(2)(b) supply and submit to the division for approval the original issue license plate that the owner intends to display on the motor vehicle; and
(2)(c) pay the fees prescribed in Sections 41-1a-1206 and 41-1a-1211.
(3)Before approving an application described in this section, the division shall determine that the original issue license plate:
(3)(a) is of a format and type issued by the state for use on a motor vehicle;
(3)(b) has numbers and characters that are unique and do not conflict with existing license plate series
