Sec. 8834.003. PURPOSE; LEGISLATIVE INTENT.
(a)The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the regulation of groundwater withdrawal in the district to prevent subsidence, which contributes to or precipitates flooding or overflow in the district, including rising water resulting from a storm or hurricane.
(b)The legislature intends that the district administer and enforce this chapter and exercise the district's rights, powers, and duties in a manner that will effectively and expeditiously accomplish the purposes of this chapter.
