(a)Each member of a county legislative body shall:
(1)No later than one hundred twenty (120) days after election or appointment, complete orientation training provided by the University of Tennessee's county technical assistance service (CTAS). This subdivision (a)(1) applies only to members newly elected or appointed on or after April 12, 2018; and (2) Annually, complete at least eight (8) hours of continuing education training at conferences or meetings provided or approved by CTAS. The period for compliance under this subdivision (a)(2) begins on September 1, 2024. This subdivision (a)(2) does not apply to:
(A)A person appointed to fill a vacancy on a county legislative body until September 1 after the person's appointment;
