Text
(A)The board may refuse to issue or renew the license or may suspend or revoke the license of a funeral director or embalmer who violates a provision of this chapter.
(B)A person who violates a provision of this chapter is subject to a civil fine of up to twenty-five thousand dollars. A licensed funeral director or embalmer who violates a provision of this chapter must be reported to the State Board of Funeral Service for immediate investigation and disciplinary proceedings.
(C)The provisions of Section 40-19-160 apply to disciplinary actions under this chapter.

HISTORY: 1994 Act No. 435, SECTION 1; 2024 Act No. 223 (H.4116), SECTION 5, eff July 1, 2024. Effect of Amendment 2024 Act No. 223, SECTION 5, in (B), in the first sentence, substituted "of up to twenty-five thousand dollars" for "not to exceed five thousand dollars", and added the second sentence.
