§ 38-71-355 — Dependent child; medically necessary leave of absence.

South Carolina·Title 38 INSURANCE·Ch. 71 ACCIDENT AND HEALTH INSURANCE
(A)As used in this section:
(1)"Dependent child" means a covered person under a policy who:
(a)is a dependent child, under the terms of the coverage, of an individual under the coverage; and (b) was enrolled in the coverage, on the basis of being a student at a postsecondary educational institution immediately before the first date of the medically necessary leave of absence involved.
(2)"Health insurance coverage" means as defined in Section 38-71-670(6).
(3)"Health insurance issuer" or "issuer" means an entity that provides health insurance coverage in this State as defined in Section 38-71-670(7).
(4)"Medically necessary leave of absence" means a leave of absence of a dependent child from a postsecondary educational institution, including an institution of higher education as defi
