§ 38-71-1010 — "Blanket accident and health insurance" defined.

"Blanket accident and health insurance" is defined to be that form of accident and health insurance covering special groups of individuals as enumerated in one of the following items: (1) under a policy or contract issued to any common carrier, which must be considered the policyholder, covering a group defined as all individuals who may become passengers on the common carrier; (2) under a policy or contract issued to an employer, who must be considered the policyholder, covering any group of employees defined by reference to exceptional hazards incident to the employment; (3) under a policy or contract issued to an employer, who is considered the policyholder, covering employees or independent contractors, or both, under contract to the employer while traveling to and from and while attending meetings at a common location as a group or in groups incident to their employment or contractual arrangement; (4) under a policy or contract issued to a college, school, or other institution of learning or to the head or principal thereof, which or who must be considered the policyholder, covering students or teachers; (5) under a policy or contract issued in the name of any volunteer fire department, first aid, or other such volunteer group, which must be considered the policyholder, covering all of the members of the department or group; (6) under a policy or contract issued to any other similar group which, in the discretion of the director or his designee, may be eligible for issuance of a blanket accident and health policy or contract either under special circumstances, exceptional hazards, or for short periods of duration.
