As used in Articles 1 to 11 of this chapter:

(1)The term "corporation" means a corporation, company, association or joint stock association;

(2)The term "person" means an individual, a firm or a copartnership;

(3)The term "Commission" means the Public Service Commission;

(4)The term "motor vehicle carrier" means every corporation or person, their lessees, trustees or receivers, owning, controlling, operating or managing any motor propelled vehicle, not usually operated on or over rails, used in the business of transporting persons or property for compensation over any improved public highway in this State;

(5)The term "trailer" means a vehicle equipped to carry a load and which is attached to and drawn by a motor vehicle and trailers shall be classed as motor vehicles and subject to t

(7) The term "ridesharing" means an arrangement for the transportation of not more than fifteen persons on a nonprofit basis utilizing a motor vehicle of which operating costs and a reasonable depreciation cost for such vehicle are paid principally by those people utilizing such arrangement. (8) The term "regulatory staff" means the executive director or the executive director and employees of the Office of Regulatory Staff.
