§ 9-5-20 — Declaration of policy.

South Carolina·Title 9 RETIREMENT SYSTEMS·Ch. 5 STATE RETIREMENT AND SOCIAL SECURITY ACT OF 1955
In order to extend to all employees of the State, and of other employers within the meaning of subsection (5) of Section 9-1-10, and to dependents and survivors of such employees, the basic protection accorded to others by the old age and survivors insurance system embodied in the Social Security Act, it is hereby declared to be the policy of the legislature, subject to the limitations of this chapter, that such steps be taken as to provide such protection to employees of the State and of such other employers on as broad a basis as is permitted under the Social Security Act.
