§ 46-12-6. Investigation and hearing — Records.

(a) If the director shall have cause to believe that any person is violating any provision of this chapter, or any regulation, permit, or order of the department of environmental management adopted in accordance therewith, it shall be the director's duty to cause the matter to be investigated. The director may schedule a hearing, receive evidence, and hear witnesses in behalf of the persons believed to be in violation.

(b) The director shall maintain records concerning all investigations undertaken and findings made pursuant to this section. The records shall
