§ 23-33-2.1. Chief inspector.
The director shall appoint a chief inspector who shall be a citizen of this state
            to coordinate, implement, administer, and enforce the provisions of the chapter. This
            existing position shall be responsible to and report to the administrator of the division
            of occupational safety. The appointee will be in the classified service of the state
            at a pay grade of not less than 330 and must hold and maintain a national certification
            as a qualified elevator inspector (QEI-1) as determined by the American society of
            mechanical engineers.
