§ 23-25.5-2. Legislative purpose.
The general assembly finds that many nursing facilities and assisted living residences
            destroy quantities of unused but viable prescription medication when residents pass
            away or when medications otherwise are no longer needed by the resident. In an effort
            to improve the quality, efficiency and utilization of the state's healthcare system,
            the general assembly hereby establishes a statewide program allowing pharmacies to
            accept for return and redispensing certain prescription drugs.
