Text

(a)Qualifications.--Except as set forth in subsection (b) and unless waived in a record by the parties, an arbitrator must:
(1)be an attorney at law, a former attorney at law on inactive status or a senior judge; and
(2)have successfully completed a combined five hours of instruction, approved by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Continuing Legal Education Board, in domestic violence and child abuse.
(b)Arbitration agreement.--The identification in the arbitration agreement of an arbitrator, arbitration organization or method of selection of the arbitrator controls.
(c)Court selection.--If an arbitrator is unable or unwilling to act or if the agreed-on method of selecting an arbitrator fails, on motion of a party, the court shall select an arbitrator.
