The section of U.S. Highway 62 beginning at the intersection of State Highway 6 extending east to the intersection of U.S. Highway 283 in Altus, in Jackson County shall be designated as the "Trooper John R. Barter Memorial Highway". The Department of Transportation shall cause suitable permanent markers bearing that name to be placed on the highway.
