Text
(A)The director of environmental protection shall adopt a plan for the provision of safe drinking water in emergencies. For purposes of this section "emergency" means an imminent and substantial danger to human health.
(B)Whenever the director determines that a water supply emergency exists requiring immediate action to protect the public health or welfare and the owner or operator of a public water system has not taken such action, he shall issue an order reciting the existence of the emergency and requiring that such action be taken as is necessary to meet the emergency. Such order shall be issued upon written or oral notice, as may be reasonable under the circumstances, and may be issued without prior hearing. Such order shall take effect immediately.
