(A)There is hereby created the commemorative Ohio national guard service medal. The adjutant general shall design the medal and administer the program for its distribution. Former members of the Ohio national guard who have been honorably or medically discharged or released from service in the Ohio national guard are eligible, upon application, to receive the medal. Eligible persons who apply to receive the medal shall submit to the adjutant general a copy of their DD-214 form or NGB-22 form and a fee in an amount to be determined by the adjutant general. The adjutant general shall set the fee at an amount necessary to cover the cost of producing the medal.

Fees collected from applicants for the medal as well as any appropriations made by the general assembly for purposes of the medal program shall be paid into the state treasury to the credit of the fund. The fund shall be used to pay for the production of the medal.
