* § 29-a. Loan counseling for mortgages guaranteed by the Servicemen's\nReadjustment Act of 1944. Upon the request of any veteran, the\ndepartment shall provide counseling and assistance to applicants for a\nmortgage loan guaranteed by the Servicemen's Readjustment Act of 1944.\nSuch service shall be provided either directly or through a contract\nwith a not-for-profit entity which has a Commercial and Government\nEntity (CAGE) code assigned by the federal System for Award Management\nand which is not owned by, affiliated with or operated by a mortgage\ncompany. Counselors shall be certified by the United States department\nof housing and urban development under Part 214 of Title 24 of the Code\nof Federal Regulations.
