§ 9-308 — When Security Interest or Agricultural Lien Is Perfected; Continuity of Perfection

Section 9--308. When Security Interest or Agricultural Lien Is\n Perfected; Continuity of Perfection.\n (a) Perfection of security interest. Except as otherwise provided in\nthis section and Section 9--309, a security interest is perfected if it\nhas attached and all of the applicable requirements for perfection in\nSections 9--310 through 9--316 have been satisfied. A security interest\nis perfected when it attaches if the applicable requirements are\nsatisfied before the security interest attaches.\n (b) Perfection of agricultural lien. An agricultural lien is perfected\nif it has become effective and all of the applicable requirements for\nperfection in Section 9--310 have been satisfied. An agricultural lien\nis perfected when it becomes effective if the applicable requirements\nare satisfied before the agricultural lien becomes effective.\n (c) Continuous perfection; perfection by different methods. A security\ninterest or agricultural lien is perfected continuously if it is\noriginally perfected by one method under this article and is later\nperfected by another method under this article, without an intermediate\nperiod when it was unperfected.\n (d) Supporting obligation. Perfection of a security interest in\ncollateral also perfects a security interest in a supporting obligation\nfor the collateral.\n (e) Lien securing right to payment. Perfection of a security interest\nin a right to payment or performance also perfects a security interest\nin a security interest, mortgage, or other lien on personal or real\nproperty securing the right.\n (f) Security entitlement carried in securities account. Perfection of\na security interest in a securities account also perfects a security\ninterest in the security entitlements carried in the securities account.\n (g) Commodity contract carried in commodity account. Perfection of a\nsecurity interest in a commodity account also perfects a security\ninterest in the commodity contracts carried in the commodity account.\n (h) Cooperative organization security interest. A cooperative\norganization security interest becomes perfected when the cooperative\ninterest first comes into existence and remains perfected so long as the\ncooperative interest exists.\n
