§ 117. Investigation of accidents. The commissioner shall investigate\nthe cause of all accidents on any railroad or street railroad subject to\nhis jurisdiction which result in loss of life or injury to persons or\nproperty, and which in his judgment shall require investigation. Every\ncommon carrier shall give immediate notice to the commissioner of every\naccident happening upon any line of railroad or street railroad owned,\noperated, controlled or leased by it, in such manner as the commissioner\nmay direct.\n
