§ 21.07 Fee for snowmobile trail development and maintenance.
1.A fee\nof one hundred twenty-five dollars is hereby imposed upon the resident,\nand one hundred twenty-five dollars upon the nonresident, owner of a\nsnowmobile for the snowmobile trail development and maintenance fund to\nbe paid to the commissioner of motor vehicles upon the registration\nthereof in addition to the registration fee required by the vehicle and\ntraffic law, the payment of which fee hereby imposed shall be a\ncondition precedent to such individual resident, individual nonresident\nor dealer registration.\n * 2. In the event that\nan individual seeking snowmobile club membership is unable, for any\nreason, to secure such club membership, such person may contact the New\nYork state snowmobile association, who shall secure such membership for\nsuch person.\n (b) Notwithstanding the fee as established in subdivision one of this\nsection and paragraph (a) of this subdivision, a fee of one hundred\ntwenty-five dollars is hereby imposed upon the resident, and one hundred\ntwenty-five dollars upon the nonresident, owner of a snowmobile\nmanufactured more than thirty years prior to the current calendar year\nfor the snowmobile trail development and maintenance fund to be paid to\nthe commissioner of motor vehicles upon the registration thereof in\naddition to the registration fee required by the vehicle and traffic\nlaw, the payment of which fee hereby imposed shall be a condition\nprecedent to such individual resident or individual nonresident\nregistration. Provided, however, an individual resident or nonresident\nregistering a snowmobile manufactured more than thirty years prior to\nthe current calendar year who provides proof, at the time of\nregistration, that such individual is a member of an organized New York\nstate snowmobile club that is a member of the New York state snowmobile\nassociation or is a member of an organized New York state snowmobile\nclub that is a trail maintenance entity and a member of the New York\nstate snowmobile association, shall pay twenty dollars for each such\nsnowmobile for the snowmobile trail development and maintenance fund in\naddition to the registration required by the vehicle and traffic law. In\nthe event that an individual seeking snowmobile club membership is\nunable, for any reason, to secure such club membership, they may contact\nthe New York state snowmobile association, who shall secure such\nmembership for such person.\n * NB Effective December 31, 2028\n
