§ 226. Wages for such work; prevailing rate. The wages to be paid for\na day's work of eight hours as referred to hereinbefore, to laborers,\nworkmen or mechanics upon such public works shall be not less than the\nprevailing rate for a day's work in the same trade or occupation in the\nlocality within the state where such public work on, about or in\nconnection with which such labor is performed in its final or completed\nform is to be situated, erected or used and shall be paid in cash. Every\ncontract for such elimination work, hereafter entered into, shall\ncontain a provision that each laborer, workman or mechanic, employed by\na contractor, subcontractor or other person about or upon such public\nwork, shall be paid the wages herein provided.\n
