§ 173. Power of supreme court justices residing in Erie county\ntogether with county judge of Erie county to appoint criers. The\njustices of the supreme court residing in Erie county together with the\ncounty judge of Erie county, or a majority of them, shall appoint, and\nmay at pleasure remove one or more criers for all the courts of record\nheld in the said county of Erie.\n
