§ 253. Use of toll bridge by public service corporations; conditions;\npowers of town board. After a bridge shall be acquired by the state\nunder the provisions of this article, the same shall not be used by any\nrailroad, telephone, gas, electric light, heat or power company or any\nother public service corporation, for any purpose except upon such terms\nand the payment of such rental as shall be determined by the town board\nof the town or towns and the common council of the city or cities within\nwhich it is situated. The money received therefor shall be divided\nequally between the localities. The provisions of this section, however,\nshall not affect any existing contract for the use of such bridge by any\nsuch corporation, except that the compensation provided for such use in\nsuc
