§ 224. Bridges. Neither in the improvement, repair or reconstruction\nof town highways, nor in the surfacing thereof, pursuant to this\narticle, shall the continuity of the roadbed be interrupted by bridge\nstructures which are not at least four feet wider than such roadbed, but\nnot less than twenty-four feet, provided, that the county superintendent\nand the commissioner may permit deviations below such minimum standards\nin planning or during the course of completion of the work, if, in their\nopinion, the particular circumstances make such deviation advisable.\nBridges built or retained on qualifying roads shall meet minimum\nstandards established by the commissioner.\n
