§ 222. Specifications.

1.It is the intent of this article that the\nimprovement, repair or reconstruction of such town highways, including\nnecessary grade and culvert work and any plans and specifications\nthereof, shall conform generally to the following minimum\nspecifications, with such exception as hereinafter provided in this\nsection. Such minimum specifications shall include,\n (a) raising of roadbed above grade, (b) grading backslope and\neliminating brush, (c) widening of roadbed to not less than eighteen\nfeet, (d) surfacing with gravel or other suitable material to a depth of\nnot less than twelve inches, which shall be stabilized with suitable\nbinding materials at such time during the current construction season or\nthe following construction season, and in such form and

§ 222. Specifications. 1. It is the intent of this article that the\nimprovement, repair or reconstruction of such town highways, including\nnecessary grade and culvert work and any plans and specifications\nthereof, shall conform generally to the following minimum\nspecifications, with such exception as hereinafter provided in this\nsection. Such minimum specifications shall include,\n (a) raising of roadbed above grade, (b) grading backslope and\neliminating brush, (c) widening of roadbed to not less than eighteen\nfeet, (d) surfacing with gravel or other suitable material to a depth of\nnot less than twelve inches, which shall be stabilized with suitable\nbinding materials at such time during the current construction season or\nthe following construction season, and in such form and amount as the\ndepartment of transportation shall determine, (e) widening shoulders to\nnot less than five feet, (f) providing for adequate drainage facilities,\n(g) if necessary, providing for vegetative protection on the sides of\nstate or municipally owned slopes bordering on highways to prevent\nerosion of soil and to conserve water, and (h) providing for the\nconstruction or reconstruction of necessary bridges, subject to the\nprovisions of section two hundred twenty-four of this article. Within\nsuch general specifications, each project shall be completed in\naccordance with a design and specifications approved by the county\nsuperintendent and the commissioner; provided, however, the county\nsuperintendent and the commissioner may permit deviations below such\nminimum specifications in planning or during the course of completion of\nthe work, if, in their opinion, the particular circumstances make the\ndeviation advisable.\n 2. The improvement, repair or reconstruction of such town highways,\nincluding necessary grade and culvert work, in order to facilitate snow\nremoval, improve drainage and build up roadbed, shall be guided by such\nintent and minimum specifications.\n
