§ 698. Severability. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or\npart of this act shall be adjudged by any court of competent\njurisdiction to be invalid or unconstitutional, such judgment shall not\naffect, impair or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be\nconfined in its operation to the clause, sentence, paragraph, section or\npart thereof directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment\nshall have been rendered.\n
