§ 1526 — Remedies

* § 1526. Remedies. 1. Whenever it appears to the attorney general,\neither upon complaint or otherwise, that any person, within or outside\nthe state, has engaged in or is about to engage in any of the acts or\npractices stated to be unlawful in this article, the attorney general\nmay bring an action or special proceeding in the name and on behalf of\nthe people of the state of New York to enjoin any violation of this\narticle, to obtain restitution of any moneys or property obtained\ndirectly or indirectly by any such violation, to obtain disgorgement of\nany profits or gains obtained directly or indirectly by any such\nviolation, to obtain damages caused directly or indirectly by any such\nviolation, to obtain civil penalties of up to five thousand dollars per\nviolation, and to obtain any such other and further relief as the court\nmay deem proper, including preliminary relief.\n 2. The attorney general shall maintain a website to receive\ncomplaints, information, or referrals from members of the public\nconcerning a covered operator's or addictive social media platform's\nalleged compliance or noncompliance with the provisions of this article.\n * NB Effective on the 180th day after the office of the attorney\ngeneral shall promulgate rules and regulations necessary to effectuate\nthe provisions of this act (see chapter 689 of 2025 § 5)\n
