§ 97-a. Affirmation in lieu of oath. Any application for a license or\nregistration required by law to be filed with the department of state\nmay, in lieu of being acknowledged or sworn under oath, be subscribed by\nthe applicant and affirmed by him or her as true under penalties of\nperjury.\n
