§ 143. Fees of such commissioners. The fees of such commissioners\nshall be as follows:\n 1. If appointed for another state, territory or dependency, not to\nexceed four times the amount allowed by the laws of such state,\nterritory or dependency for like services, and not to exceed in any case\none dollar for taking the proof or acknowledgment of a written\ninstrument, or administering an oath;\n 2. If appointed for Great Britain or Ireland, for administering or\ncertifying an oath, one shilling sterling, and for taking the proof or\nacknowledgment of a written instrument, or for certifying to the\nexistence or correctness of a copy of a patent, record or document, four\nshillings sterling;\n 3. If appointed for France or any other foreign country, for\nadministering and certifying a
