§ 450. Department of public welfare.
1.The head of the department of\npublic welfare shall be the county commissioner of public welfare. Any\ninconsistent provision of this chapter notwithstanding, the county\ncommissioner of public welfare shall be appointed by the county\nexecutive in accordance with the provisions of the social welfare law\nfor a term of five years. A vacancy in the office of the county welfare\ncommissioner whether occurring by expiration of term or otherwise shall\nbe filled by appointment by the county executive.\n 2. Any inconsistent provision of this chapter notwithstanding, the\ndeputy commissioners of public welfare, if any, shall be appointed and\nserve in accordance with the provisions of the social welfare law.\n
