As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires: 1. “Board” means the State Board of Podiatry. 2. “Podiatry” is the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of ailments of the human foot and leg. 3. “Podiatry hygienist” means a person engaged in assisting a podiatric physician. 4. “Screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment approach” means an evidence-based method of delivering early intervention and treatment to persons who have or are at risk of developing a substance use disorder that consists of:

(a)Screening to assess the severity of substance use and identify the appropriate level of treatment;

(b)Brief intervention to increase awareness of the person’s substance use and motivation to change his or her behavior; and

(c)Referral to treatment for persons who n
