The Governor may remove any municipal emergency management coordinator at any time for cause. In such event the mayor of the municipality or, in the case of a municipality which has adopted the commission form of government pursuant to the provisions of the "commission form of government law" (R.S.40:70-1 et seq.), the commissioner serving as director of the department to which the responsibility for emergency management has been assigned, shall appoint a new municipal emergency management coordinator with the approval of the Governor. If the mayor or commissioner, as appropriate, shall not appoint a municipal emergency management coordinator within 10 days after such office shall become vacant, the Governor may appoint a temporary municipal emergency management coordinator, who shall serv
