§ 52:17B-71h — Fees for training, other services provided by commission.

21. a. The commission shall, by rule or regulation, establish, prescribe, or modify fees for training or other services provided by the commission pursuant to the provisions of this act. The fees may include, but are not limited to, fees for academy recruits and fees for each academy. Any fees established pursuant to this subsection shall be dedicated to the costs of providing the training or other services provided by the commission, as the case may be. b. The commission may, by rule or regulation, establish, prescribe, or modify fees for application for and issuance of an initial license pursuant to the provisions of this act for applicants or law enforcement officers not employed as full-time sworn members of any State, county, or municipal law enforcement agency or department or division of those governments on the effective date of this act, provided that a fee may not be charged for application for and issuance of initial licenses for law enforcement officers employed as full-time sworn members of any State, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, department, or division of those governments on the effective date of this act, or for application for and issuance of law enforcement license renewals for law enforcement officers employed as full-time sworn members of any State, county, or municipal law enforcement agency, department, or division of those governments on or after the effective date of this act. c. The commission shall be authorized to accept payment of fees established pursuant to this section from an applicant or licensee or on behalf of an applicant or licensee from a law enforcement unit employing or proposing to employ the applicant or officer, from any other governmental entity, or from funds made available by the State for this purpose.
