§ 48:4-35 — Definitions.

48:4-35.

a."Motor vehicle" as used in this article includes all vehicles propelled otherwise than by muscular power (excepting such vehicles as run only upon rails or tracks exclusively) carrying passengers for hire now or hereafter operated by virtue of a certificate of public convenience and necessity including vehicles used in connection with charter or special bus operations to which this act applies within the State of New Jersey.
b."Self-insurer" means any person who, by virtue of any law of this State is exempted by some official, board or body of this State from the requirements imposed upon other owners of similar motor vehicles to carry insurance in an insurance company.
c."Financial responsibility" means ability to satisfy claims to the extent set forth in section 48:4-36 of
