a.No person shall use or assume the title or designation "certified public accountant," or the abbreviation "CPA" or any other title, designation, words, letters, abbreviation, sign, card, or device tending to indicate that the person is a certified public accountant unless that person holds a current license as a certified public accountant under P.L.1997, c.259 (C.45:2B-42 et seq.) or qualifies for the practice privilege under section 6 of P.L.2008, c.45 (C.45:2B-50.1).
