§ 40:73-1 — Qualifications sole test for election, appointment

New Jersey·Title 40 MUNICIPALITIES AND COUNTIES
All officers and employees shall be elected or appointed with reference to their qualifications and fitness, for the good of the public service and without reference to their political faith or party affiliations. No officer or candidate for office in any such municipality shall directly or indirectly give or promise any person any office, position, employment, benefit or anything of value for the purpose of influencing or obtaining the political support, aid or vote of any person, under the penalty of being disqualified to hold the office to which he may have been elected or appointed. Amended 2003, c.78.
