In granting any pension pursuant to this act, the governing body of the municipality or the board of chosen freeholders of the county may provide for pension payments prospectively only with respect to the death of any such member so killed subsequent to January 1, 1956. L.1958, c. 151, p. 666, s. 3, eff. Dec. 17, 1958.
