§ 34:5-167 — Definitions.

2. The following terms wherever used or referred to in this act shall have the following meanings unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context; a. "Act" means this act and rules and regulations promulgated and adopted hereunder. b. "Approved" means approved by the commissioner. c. "Bureau" means Bureau of Engineering and Safety in the Division of Labor, Department of Labor and Workforce Development. d. "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, or his authorized representative. e. (Deleted by amendment, P.L.2007, c.39). f. "Department" means the Department of Labor and Workforce Development. g. "Employee" means any person suffered or permitted to work by an employer, having a specific regard to any of the activities included in section 3 of this act. h. "Employer" means any corporation, partnership, individual proprietorship, joint venture, firm, company or other similar legal entity engaged in activities included in section 3 of this act or any person acting in the direct interest of any of the foregoing in relation to any employee or place of employment, having specific regard to any of the activities included in section 3 of this act. i. "Place of employment" means any place in or about which an employee is suffered or permitted to work having specific regard to any of the activities included in section 3 of this act.
