§ 26:8-56 — Fee for registering birth or death.

26:8-56. The local registrar shall be paid $1 for each birth or death certificate properly executed, registered, recorded, and promptly returned, or otherwise transmitted through the NJ-EDRS, to the State Registrar. In the case of a death registration, the fee shall be credited to the account within the NJ-EDRS of the political subdivision comprising the registration district. A local registrar shall not receive the fee if compensated by a fixed salary as provided in R.S.26:8-59. Amended 1948, c.285, s.1; 1963, c.81, s.7; 1983, c.275, s.14; 2003, c.221, s.23.
