The local board having charge of the public health in any city of the first class may appoint and designate nurses, who shall be regularly graduated from a recognized training school of nurses, to act as nurses in such dispensary and to render such services as may be required of them in attendance upon the sick poor of such city. The salaries of such nurses shall be fixed by the local board, but in no event shall exceed the sum of seventy-five dollars per month and shall be chargeable to the appropriation providing for such dispensary.
