3.The members of the Commission on Aging shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate. The members of the commission shall be selected from among the citizens of the State who have demonstrated interest in the problems of aging and who are generally representative of the varied population of the State. In addition to the 15 citizen members, there shall be two legislative ex officio members of the commission, one appointed by the President of the Senate and one appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly. In addition to the 15 citizen members, there shall be two legislative ex officio members of the commission, one appointed by the President of the Senate and one appointed by the Speaker of the General Assembly. The legislative ex officio members shall be appointed for their term of office. The director shall be an ex officio member of the advisory commission. Also, one representative chosen by and from the executive directors of county offices on aging operating under the provisions of P.L.1970, c.248 (C.40:23-6.38 et seq.) shall be an ex officio member of the commission. Three members of the commission shall be appointed for one year, three for two years and three for three years, and their successors shall be appointed for terms of three years. All members may hold over and serve on the commission after the expiration of their respective terms, until their respective successors are appointed and shall qualify. Vacancies occurring other than by expiration of term shall be filled for the unexpired term. A chairman and other officers of the commission shall be elected for a term of two years by the members from among the members appointed by the Governor. The Commission on Aging shall meet at regular intervals and at least quarterly. The times and places for the said meetings shall be fixed by the commission and special meetings may be called by the chairman on not less than 10 days' written notice to each member.
