§ 26:12-9 — Powers of commissioner; annual report on accidents by camps and by commissioner

a. In order to carry out his duties under this act, the commissioner may enter and inspect any youth camp and its records, may question employees, and may investigate facts, conditions, practices or other matters to the extent he deems it necessary or appropriate. b. The commissioner shall have the power to administer oaths and examine witnesses under oath, issue subpenas, compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of papers, books, accounts, records, payrolls, documents and testimony and to take depositions and affidavits in any proceeding before the commissioner. c. To determine the areas in which safety standards are necessary and to aid in promulgating meaningful regulations, camps subject to the provisions of this act shall be required to report annually, on the date prescribed by the commissioner, all accidents resulting in death, injury and illness, other than minor injuries which require only first aid treatment and which do not involve medical treatment, loss of consciousness, restriction of activity or motion, or premature termination of the camper's term at the camp. The commissioner shall compile the statistics reported and include summaries thereof in his annual report to the Governor and the Legislature. L.1973, c. 375, s. 9, eff. Jan. 9, 1974.
