Text

The department shall regulate and direct the storage and release of water from each reservoir in such manner and at such times as shall be most beneficial for regulating the flow of rivers and streams to lessen damages resulting from floods and to promote the state's industrial and economic welfare by enhancing the present and potential water power and for supplying water to any political subdivision of the state for public or domestic use (provided that any such subdivision shall be required to pay to said department a fair and reasonable compensation as determined by said department for water so supplied) and subject thereto for water users in accordance with the provisions of contracts entered into pursuant to RSA 481:8.
