Text
The mayor and aldermen of any city, upon petition, may construct sidewalks therein, with or without edgestones, and covered with any appropriate material, and for that purpose may widen and straighten any highway as in other cases, except that the notice of proceedings shall state that the construction of a sidewalk is contemplated.
